Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists are movement specialists, who are university educated and registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Physiotherapy's aim is to restore optimal functioning using a variety of treatment modalities.
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy involves the use of 'hands-on' techniques to restore motion, alleviate pain and promote healing. Techniques include manipulation, mobilization, trigger point release therapy, myofascial release, and muscle energy techniques.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles below the skin to stimulate tissue. Its aims are to decrease pain, promote healing, and normalize tissue function and mechanics. Physiotherapists use acupuncture to treat musculoskeletal disorders within the scope of their practice.
Kinesiology
Kinesiology is the science of human movement and kinesiologists are university-educated practitioners. Kinesiologists facilitate human movement through education, exercise, ergonomic advice, and also provide support service in a physiotherapy setting.
